Ánnámáret on stage with Lapland Military Band
Ánnámáret and her Sámi songs will have totally new form with Lapland Military Band when Ánnámáret and Lapland Military Band are going to have a concert together in Sámi Cultural Centre Sajos in Inari on Thursday 9th of February 2017 at 7 pm.
Concerts title is Skábma – the Polar Night and Ánnámáret is going to perform her songs from the Ánnámáret Ensemble album Gollehelmmot that was released in August 2016. For this concert, the songs are arranged for Ánnámáret and a brass band. The musical experience will be totally new for the audience and for the soloist, Ánnámáret.
When Ánnámáret, Anna Näkkäläjärvi-Länsman was still a clarinet student, she worked some periods in military bands in Rovaniemi and in Hämeenlinna. She says that this time of her life got her to know different styles of music because the repertoire of the brass bands is so diverse. “One day we were playing some ultra traditional Sibelius wind music and the next day we were playing Lordi´s Hard Rock Hallelujah heavy song. The time that I got to play with military brass bands really thought me a lot when it comes to different music traditions in the western music”, Anna Näkkäläjärvi-Länsman says now from the Sámi musicians point of view.
Lapland Military Band will perform some wind music in the concert. In addition to Ánnámáret own songs, in the concert you will hear a Sámi classic, Nils-Aslak Valkeapää´s song Sámi eatnan duoddariid arranged specially for Ánnámáret and Lapland Military Band. The arrangement is by Juha Pisto and it gives a new view to this Valkeapääs evergreen.
