Ánnámáret's Jearrat máttaráhkus music video in the national broadcast of Independence Day of Finland - the album will be released in February
Jearrat máttaráhkus (Ask the Foremothers) music video was shown as part of a nationwide Independence Day broadcast in Finland today. Mrs. Jenni Haukio, together with the President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö, selected the music video to be part of these years official independence day celebration in Finland. Jearrat máttaráhkus is a music video to Ánnámáret´s music directed by media artist Marja Viitahuhta. The work explores whether it is possible to revive the elements of culture and why people in this time feel the need for it. The video catalog includes both the sections filmed by Marja Viitahuhta in Sámiland and archive videos and pictures.
The yoik is a single from the album Nieguid duovdagat by Ánnámáret, Turkka Inkilä and Ilkka Heinonen. The Nieguid duovdagat music, will be released as an album on the upcoming Sámi National Day on February 6th, 2021. The album includes ten Ánnámáret aka Anna Näkkäläjärvi-Länsman yoiks with both traditional and modern tones. The albmunincludes Ánnámáret´s yoiking, the archaic sound of Ilkka Heinonen's jouhikko and Turkka Inkilä's organic electronics as well as the shakuhachi flute. An important part of the Nieguid duovdagat concerts are Marja Viitahuhta's live videos, which Viitahuhta has created as an integral part of the music for each song in the concert.
Turkka Inkilä has produced the album Nieguid duovdagat and created electronic parts that affect the world of Nieguid duovdagat. The electronics naturally support Ánnámáret's yoiking and Ilkka Heinonen's jouhikko, giving the yoik space to breathe and the jouhikko to bring his own human voice into the whole. The electronics reflect the moods and thoughts that came from Ánnámáret's joys, successfully managing to bring Ánnámáret's mental landscape into audible form.
The album will be released on February 6th, 2021 on stream services as well as on CD and later as an LP. It will bepublished by UKSI Productions. A new music video by Marja Viitahuhta for the title song Nieguid duovdagat, will be released at the same time with the album.
