Ailu Valle features Ánnámáret's song
Ailu Valle and Ánnámáret's new musical collaboration will be released on Friday 13 August. Sámi rap artist Ailu Valle visits Sámi musician Ánnámáret's song Johtit ain (We are still migrating). The song was originally released on the album Nieguid duovdagat – Dreamscapes in February 2021. With the new version, Ailu Valle raps a text he has written himself. - Ánnámáret's joik and Turkka Inkilä's music took me to a dream world, where I walk timelessly in the Sámi landscape, says Ailu Valle about his creative process.
- The style of Johtit ain song felt like asking for rap to be part of the entity. We are happy with the whole Nieguid duovdagat working group to get to cooperate with Ailu Valle. It is a great honor to work with Ailu, who is a skilled musician and master of Sámi language, Ánnámáret says about the backgrounds of the song that is now coming out. Johtit ain featuring Ailu Valle will be available on stream services and on Ánnámáret's youtube channel from Friday 13.8.2021.
Johtit ain has been released in its first form on Ánnámáret's Nieguid duovdagat album, which was released on February 6, 2021. The music for the album has been co-created by Ánnámáret (joik), Ilkka Heinonen (Finnish bowed lyre jouhikko) and Turkka Inkilä (electronics and shakuhachi). Turkka Inkilä has also produced the now-released single and the album Nieguid duovdagat. The album has been a review success and was released and the song Johtit ain featuring Ailu Valle is released by UKSI Productions Oy.
Johtit ain featuring Ailu Valle
Lyrics: Ailu Valle and Anna Näkkäläjärvi-Länsman
Ailu Valle:
The light is the one which
leads us in these regions
when we proceed, proceed
we might rest in shadows
but they are just turns, turns
then we’ll ski again
life doesn’t pause, so on this path
we will continue which never stops nor started
unaffected souls
invisible stamps of footsteps
are the ones that we follow, the tracks of our ancestors
there came a skyline, then came a fjeld
then came a residence behind it
where an ancient goahti shares wisdom
at the same time so new, at the same time so familiar
then a yoik was heard nearby the ear
Ánnámáret:
Lead me and my sisters
Take us to a new world
We hand ourselves
over to you now again
Over the mountains and fells
We fly as an eagle
Along these lands
Migrating further and further
Seeking beautiful pastures
Presents of the earth
Sacrificing to the powers
of the gods of nature
Ailu Valle:
a bear turned around in its nest,
almost woke up from a dream
but the intention to guard the hidden knowledge
was enough to preserve the repose / keep the rest
out the mercy of it the nightmare vanished
the big troll was slammed and turned into a rock
steps got lighter until one was able to fly
the wings instead of hands resettled one towards resort
to get to meet a breeze in peace in the air
powers from Earth, Fire and Water
as a gift from the gods above and under
which one can carry here from the other side of the dream
even the impossible is possible
as a friend from region to region
still proceed like a rich and spiritual reindeer herder
wholeheartedly obedient to one’s home
